چکیده

This paper develops a noncooperative game framework towards optimizing optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) in the presence of link capacity constraints. In optical wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) networks, all wavelength-multiplexed channels share the optical fiber. In order to limit the nonlinear effects, the total power launched into the fiber has to be below the nonlinearity threshold. This can be regarded as the optical link capacity constraint. We formulate an extended OSNR Nash game that incorporates this underlying system constraint. The status of an optical link is considered directly in the cost function. Sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness of the Nash equilibrium (NE) solution are given. Two iterative algorithms for channel power control are proposed to compute the NE solution: a parallel update algorithm (PUA) and a relaxed PUA algorithm (r-PUA). Their convergence is studied under different conditions, both theoretically and numerically.

OSNR game optimization with link capacity constraints in general topology WDM networks

This work studies games with coupled constraints in general topology optical wavelengthdivision multiplexed (WDM) networks towards optimizing channel optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR). We first develop a model to describe the network and an OSNR model for each link by investigating the interaction between the network and physical layers. The nonlinear threshold is considered as the link capa...

Effects of parameters on Nash games with OSNR target

This paper studies efficiency in a Nash game with optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) target. Instead of looking from the view point of degree of efficiency (“price of anarchy”), we investigate the effects of parameters in individual cost functions. We show that the aggregate cost function in the game-theoretic formulation is not automatically convex and the optimal solution of the associated ...

State-space Approach to Pricing Design in OSNR Nash Game ?

The static nature of the noncooperative power control game model in optical networks makes it difficult to study and design an appropriate pricing scheme. In this paper, we derive a first-order best response dynamics from the game-theoretical model and formulate a general multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) state-space model. We use classical linear system theory to explain the controllability ...

Interdependent Security Game Design over Constrained Linear Influence Networks

In today's highly interconnected networks, security of the entities are often interdependent. This means security decisions of the agents are not only influenced by their own costs and constraints, but also are affected by their neighbors’ decisions. Game theory provides a rich set of tools to analyze such influence networks. In the game model, players try to maximize their utilities through se...

A Distributed Optimization Approach to Constrained OSNR Problem

This paper studies constrained optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) problem via a distributed optimization approach. In multi-channel optical systems, the signal over an optical link can be regarded as an interfering noise for others, which leads to OSNR degradation. Regulating the input optical power at the Source (transmitter) aims to achieve satisfactory OSNR level at the Destination (receiv...
